Abstract

The work examines ‘The impact of cohesion policy in Italy: a brief review’, bringing the territorial dimension into line with the relevant economic and institutional aspects. They find a positive impact, but they are thinned for capital deepening and employment, until they disappear in the most recent years. Aiello and Pupo (2009) estimate a neoclassical convergence model increased with the amount of EU funds (source CPT) for all regions from 1996 to 2007. Barone et al. (2016) apply a counter-current analysis aimed at demonstrating that EU funds produce effects only in the short term. Coppola et al. (2018) uses RGS source data (Regionalised State Expenditure) to jointly analyze the impact on per capita GDP of the twenty regions of EU funds and some national funds from 1994 to 2013. The results of cohesion policies are mainly null for local income (MEF source data) and positive for the number of local units and their employees (ASIA source data).
