Abstract

The contribution analyses «The makerspace of Central Emilia, between productive and social dimension», with attention to the context, the tools of reading and the implications for policies. The organization of events and meetings led to the creation of Il Fab Lab is open from Monday to Friday, from 17 to 21. Designed as a space for training and experimentation, it offers courses and workshops for modeling, 3D printing and new technologies. As for the physical and spatial organization, there are no particular differences to those of metropolitan makerspace (Morandi, Di Vita, 2015; Pacchi, 2017). This highlights, on the one hand, how makerspaces are often referred to as “symbols” of urban innovation, with reference to the generic smart city. Nevertheless, even in the Emilian cities, the emptiness of the private productive heritage suggests the experimentation of innovative procedures to support interventions of urban, social and economic regeneration. The space is currently a multidisciplinary container that promotes the interweaving between craftsmanship, creativity and art, a “citizen factory” in connection with the territory, community and enterprises, assigned in co-management to the associations Amigdala and Archivio Architetto Cesare Leonardi since 2017.
