Abstract
The study explores “The role of business economist as a local development agent”, reconstructing the problem and the main evidence developed in the text. The best known figures to which small and medium-sized enterprises are addressed are the accountant or commercial doctor, who often also cover the figure of the auditor and the consultant of the job. In the Anglo-Saxon world there are professional figures that carry out the activity of specialized business consultancy: the Temporary manager (Castelli et al., 2012) and the Contract manager (Saxena, 2008) with the aim to solve management problems, develop activity and restore economic and financial balance.
