Risk, vulnerability and territorial resilience: the case of the Italian provinces
Rischio, vulnerabilità e resilienza territoriale: il caso delle province italiane
Abstract
The work examines "Risk, vulnerability and territorial resilience: the case of the Italian provinces", bringing in relation the territorial dimension with the relevant economic and institutional aspects. It is therefore possible to reach a system of indicators and synthetic indices at first macrovariable level and, subsequently, at the level of vulnerability descriptors, resilience and finally of the territorial risk. These components were covered by the descriptive categories of vulnerability and resilience, through some logical criteria suggested by the literature on complex adaptive systems (Resilience Alliance, 2007). Table I and II shows the system of 68 indicators (from the initial selection and application of the analysis of the main components) used to describe the geography of vulnerability and resilience of the Italian provinces. Financial voltage of households 2.1 Waste produced/inhabitants 2.1 Suicide mortality rate 2.1 Family allowances 2.2 Veterinaries/inhabitants 2.2 Work/work accidents 2.2 Displacement of protests/population 2.3 Inorganic fertilizers/surfaces 2.3 Road accidents/agricultural residents 3. Negative performance of some provinces in the North West, such as Imperia and Asti, which are marked by high vulnerability and low resilience.
