Abstract

The work examines ‘Migrations and remittances: an analysis of certain regional levels’, bringing the territorial dimension into line with the relevant economic and institutional aspects. Secondly, since the crisis in 2008 it is possible to highlight the fact that the remittances have an anticyclical nature, as compared to other economic variables, the remittances have maintained a stable and positive trend over time, thus confirming the hypothesis of persistence (Ratha and Silwal, 2012). Espresso in terms of log-linear, the regression model used to explain the per capita remittances (ij, t) sent by immigrants to their country of origin, is given by. In particular, according to Lucas and Stark there would be a non-linear relationship because in the early stages immigrants encounter difficulties in the host country which leads them to precarious, unstable and paid occupations. The share_permlp variable also allows to verify Lucas and Stark’s hypothesis, with regard to the possibility that the level of remittances may decrease due to the passing of time and the attachment of the migrant to the host land.
