Abstract

The contribution analyses 'Economic Resilience and Social Resilience. Is there a relationship?", with attention to the context, the reading instruments and the implications for policies. In this article we try to analyze whether the relationship between social resilience and economic resilience exists, trying to identify its characteristics, determinants and effects on growth paths. An evolution of the concept of ecological resilience is represented by the socio-ecological approach: starting from the study of the system relationship – environment we analyze the mechanisms of autopoiesi and the adaptive capabilities of the system activated by the uncertainty that the perturbante event introduces. Adaptive resilience is therefore a dynamic process defined in terms of rebounding forward (bounce forward), rather than in terms of return to a previous situation (Martin and Sunley, 2013). Individual resilience is the ability of an individual to react in adverse situations and circumstances (Williams and Druy, 2009). Further development of the work will start from the deepening of the concept of social resilience in an attempt to provide a measurement (Maclean et al.,2014) also through the use of multivariate analysis, for the Italian regions.
