Abstract

The contribution analyses “A Smart City for Expo: tools and proposals for mobility”, with attention to the context, reading tools and policy implications. Here, some proposals (both top-down and bottom-up) are examined in the development of the mobility sector, all in some way related to the Expo / Smart City coupling. In the PSU the goods coming on heavy means is reassigned to lighter and ecological means (electric vehicles, bicycles, etc.) for delivery to the final customer. One of the most complexities is the implementation of a “two-tier model” (Crainic and Sgalambro, 2014) of interchange car-transport in a context to many actors. Here are some examples: The city of Lyon has estimated the impact and costs of some interventions for each ton of CO2 saved: new tram line 17 000 €; cycle tracks 400 €; thermal insulation buildings 50 €; travel planner 10 €. The definition of the intentions of the administration – which is the motivation to start the whole process – is a kind of paper of intent, expressed through a vision and a set of objectives (not all necessarily measurable).
