Italian Journal of Planning Practice: rivista scientifica internazionale nella pianificazione urbanistica
Abstract
The work examines «Italian Journal of Planning Practice: international scientific journal in urban planning», reporting the territorial dimension with relevant economic and institutional aspects. The organization It is edited in its own by Paolo Scattoni and the initiative participates a small editorial board that contributes to web management, graphics and editing. One of the objectives was to demonstrate the possibility of creating an editorial initiative capable of confronting the expensive products of consolidated scientific publishing. IJPP is currently indexed in the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), in Scopus of Elsevier, in the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI) of Thomson Reuters, and in the list of scientific journals of ANVUR, always ensuring the fully open access character of its contents. This result is obvious because of the more generalist character of Google Scholar which also includes quotes received from books and magazines not indexed. The first solution was implemented through the use of disciplinary mailing lists (e.g. Critical Geographers and Urban Geographers Listserv), and advertising on Aesop's websites or social media, Aesop Young Academics, and PLPR.
