Abstract

The article deals with “multiple creative talents: which determinants at the local level?”, placing the theme in the economic, social and territorial framework discussed by the authors. However, although the existing literature has identified some creative drivers, empirical evidence of their specific impact on particular creative talents and the degree of creative complexity of a territory is still extremely poor. Moreover, on the basis of existing literature, which identifies some particularly relevant determinants of creativity, socio-cultural diversity, the presence of creative sectors and cultural attractions are considered here with particular attention. Third step: determining the degree of creative complexity The third step, finally, analyses through an ordered probit the impact of the determinants of creativity on the level of creative diversification, i.e. on the number of different creative talents simultaneously present in an area. The starting point of the reasoning described here is a multidimensional idea of creativity and the guiding thread is linked to the belief that the contamination of different creative talents has a positive impact on the generation of innovative ideas and, through this mechanism, on economic development.
