Telework, recomposition of the boundaries of daily life and articulation between professional, family and personal spheres
Télétravail, recomposition des frontières de la vie quotidienne et articulation entre sphères professionnelle, familiale et personnelle
Abstract
This demonstration article examines the redefinition of daily boundaries by telework from a sociological reading centered on hybrid professional situations combining home, office and third-place. It seeks to understand how employees, team leaders, relatives and staff representatives organize remote coordination, management of interruptions and the development of a domestic work space, while their conduct is traversed by the promised autonomy and silent intensification of work. The approach is based on a fully simulated qualitative corpus, built solely to test the editorial layout of the journal; it combines fictional interviews, observation scenes and imaginary institutional documents. The analysis highlights the role of available space, control of schedules, collective support and clarity of objectives, as well as the effect of differences in housing, status, family burden and bargaining power. It shows that these practices cannot be reduced to individual decisions: they also depend on the rules, relationships and meanings produced in the action. The illustrative results highlight a contrasting experience of freedom, fatigue and professional recognition. They call for a negotiated regulation of the hours, load and material conditions of remote work. The article concludes that the study of ordinary arrangements makes it possible to better grasp the fragile boundary between professional availability and personal time. The text has no empirical pretension and is exclusively a synthetic content intended to test the template, length, title hierarchy and reference system of the journal.
