Daily mobility, territorial inequalities and disparities in access to public services in urban and peripheral areas
Mobilités quotidiennes, inégalités territoriales et disparités d’accès aux services publics dans les espaces urbains et périphériques
Abstract
This demonstration article examines the inequalities in access to public services linked to daily mobility from a sociological reading focused on peri-urban and rural areas where distances structure the possibilities for action. It seeks to understand how residents, public officials, local elected representatives and transport operators organise travel planning, the use of self-help and the link between physical and online outlets, while their conduct is traversed by the centralisation of services and the requirement for effective accessibility. The approach is based on a fully simulated qualitative corpus, built solely to test the editorial layout of the journal; it combines fictional interviews, observation scenes and imaginary institutional documents. The analysis highlights the role of the vehicle, time, information, digital skills and self-help networks, as well as the effect of income gaps, age, health, location and administrative control. It shows that these practices cannot be reduced to individual decisions: they also depend on the rules, relationships and meanings produced in the action. The illustrative results highlight an unequal capacity to exercise its rights and maintain essential routines. They call for a territorial coordination combining proximity, adapted transport and human support. The article concludes that the study of ordinary arrangements makes it possible to better grasp the border between autonomy of movement and dependence with the help of a relative. The text has no empirical pretension and is exclusively a synthetic content intended to test the template, length, title hierarchy and reference system of the journal.
