Abstract

The contribution analyses "Productivity, sectors, innovation: a split from the Sardinia region", with attention to the context, the reading tools and the implications for policies. The economy of the island is traditionally characterized by the participation and support of public administration on one side, and the centrality of the tourist and mining sector on the other. Comparative work on a regional basis has repeatedly highlighted the asphyxiated nature of the industrial fabric and the relative risk of environmental and naturalistic depletion due to the public mismanagement of the tourism sector (Onnis, Perra, Sedda, Sanna, Dibeltulo, 2009). Productivity analysis has used AIDA data (already widely used in similar works, see Aiello et al., 2009) to investigate the performance of enterprises with a triple approach. In the past, however, it has been suggested that the prevalence of small dimensions is also related to the information and underestimation of the statistical data (Carcangiu, Sistu, Usai, 1999). Investing on education and internationality, given the perspective that prefigures the European shores of the Mediterranean as the only hope for the young population, lacking in perspective, of the North African countries and the Near East.
