About the “Agenda Urbana”

Abstract

The work examines “Regarding the “Agenda Urbana””, in relation to the territorial dimension with the relevant economic and institutional aspects. On 20 March last the then Minister for Territorial Cohesion, Fabrizio Barca, presented to the Interministerial Committee for Urban Policies (CIPU) the document “Metodi e Contenuti sulle Priorità in tema di Agenda Urbana”. It is induced to exclaim, because, after about forty years of silence or governmental bastions, the theme of urban policies is back on the table of national political debate. Tasks of address “in order to also ensure unity and coordination to the activity of urban planning at the various levels of territorial constituency [. . However, the impression that is derived from the document is that of its unresolved position between the proposal itself as instrumental/contingent or refounder/structure of urban policies. The risk of any prolonged abstinence from cultural and political elaboration is the same as a result of a prolonged abstinence from reading and writing: return illiteracy. The degree of urban culture and specifically urbanism of the “palace” was incomparably higher than today’s: then it was composed, today it has returned to fulfill.
