Abstract

The contribution analyses "The quality of life in Italian cities: in search of sweet life", with attention to the context, the tools of reading and the implications for policies. Much of these studies converge in identifying as determining factors the quality of life infrastructure, services, aesthetics and functionality of urban furniture, the quality of the environment. Where and why you live better” (University Bocconi Editore) proposes an alternative methodology to assess the quality of life in 103 Italian provincial capitals. In the analysis of the authors have been considered a multiplicity of indicators related to climate conditions (temperature, average monthly rainfall, percentage of humidity). In addition to this data, the Rodolfo De Benedetti Foundation sample on employee paybacks reported by the Inps and related to the 2001-2002 period was used. The application of the eonic method for measuring the quality of life is quite simple, given the difficulty of finding the necessary microeconomic data. To fill this gap, it would be desirable to start a system of monitoring, collection and periodic updating of statistical data similar to the Audit Programme.
