Abstract

The contribution analyses «After the Province: there is a future for the Vasta Area?», with attention to the context, the reading tools and the implications for policies. In particular, the financial maneuver on the provinces introduced by 190/2015 has placed itself in open contradiction with the bill See the intervention of the vice-president of the Upi, president of the Province of Pisa at the seminar of 15 October 2015 (Filippeschi M. 2015) “Del Rio” in two respects. Multi-level spatial governance model; this also through the forecasts of concerted offices to ensure the effective competition of the vast metropolitan and provincial areas to define territorial strategies. In Lombardy, despite the law of reorganization does not contain forecasts in this sense, the hypothesis of a future reorganization of perimeters for large area functions based on eight cantons has been advanced by the current President of the Region. The first is that the rethinking, in a perspective of rationalization and simplification, should concern and involve, in order to be truly effective, the set of public subjects, variedly configured and called, who deal with supercommunal scale functions.
