Abstract

The contribution analyses “The identification of priorities in regional competitiveness policies: an analysis for Lombardy with the Regional Competitiveness Index”, with attention to the context, reading instruments and the implications for policies. The concept of competitiveness at the regional level is actually quite multifaceted, with many definitions and not quite consistent theorizations (Bristow, 2005) but at the same time is a source of useful elements for the analysis of the economic trend of the regions, as shown in Huggins & Thompson (2017). The Regional Competitiveness Index The Regional Competitiveness Index (RCI) was used for the analysis that individuals take priority. The first edition dates back to 2010, then followed another 3 years away from each other in 2013, 2016 and 2019 (Annoni, Dijkstra, & Gargano, 2017; Annoni & Kozovska, 2010; Djikstra & Annoni, 2019). In this way, it is therefore possible to highlight aspects in which an intervention is necessary, highlighted in colors tending to red, or it is not necessary, highlighted with colors tending to green. As regards technological readiness, Lombardy is in a situation of relative disadvantage, but its indicators seem to be improving.
