Home-University Mobility at the time of Covid-19
La mobilità casa-università al tempo del Covid-19
Abstract
The work examines 'Home-University Mobility at the time of Covid-19', relaunching the territorial dimension with the relevant economic and institutional aspects. The emergence of the pandemic from Covid-19 has imposed changes to the habits of mobility, both forced by the norms and by personal choice in order to reduce the health risk, particularly affecting local public transport (Lozzi et al., 2020). However, the most important data is that of pre-pandemia users of public transport: the risk of contagion, combined with the restrictions of the filling coefficient of the means, tend to push people towards other modes considered safer (Gkiotsalitis, Cats, 2020; ISFORT, 2020b). It is, however, a question of minority quotas, nor is it assessable how much the Covid-19 emergency is a significant factor in determining such purchase intentions. This is the segment where active mobility is a truly practicable option, on which the policy effort should be focused to encourage a different one. There is in fact a great concern that some choices, induced by the current epidemiological situation, can become permanent even once the emergency is resolved.
