Synthetic indicators of immigrant integration: an application to the municipalities of Marche
Indicatori sintetici d’integrazione degli immigrati: un’applicazione ai comuni marchigiani
Abstract
The article deals with “Synthetic Indicators of Integration of Immigrants: an application to the Marche municipalities”, placing the theme in the economic, social and territorial framework discussed by the authors. It is also necessary to give back to the analyst and the reader a summary view of the various statistical data in contexts, as far as possible, unique and consistent. The postulate for the construction of the final synthetic index (IIC) identifies in the socio-occupational integration of immigrants most of those objective factors that can structurally condition integration processes at local level. Conversely, where these socio-occupational inclusion factors will be minor or absent, integration processes will find territorial preconditions structurally unfavourable to their realisation and, therefore, the local inclusion potential will be lower. The measurement method is based on a system of indicators that make up synthetic indexes; twenty-one aspects or themes have been selected, equally divided into three thematic groups. In summary, in the year 2013 are the small and medium territories of the province of Pesaro to offer potentially the greatest opportunities for inclusion, since they sum up territorial attractiveness and communal integration (IIS in primis).
